CMSCVA pairs two stunning pieces for clarinet and string quartet, one written in 19th century Germany, and one that looks back to 13th century mysticism. Johannes Brahms’ achingly nostalgic Clarinet Quintet in B Minor is performed with “Dreams and Prayers of Isaac the Blind” by Argentinian composer Osvaldo Golijov, chamber music inspired by the writings and teachings of Rabbi Yitzhak Saggi Nehor.

This concert is preceded by 15 minute chat with CMSCVA Artistic Director James Wilson starting at 3:30pm.

Bryan Crumpler, clarinet
