Devin Gossett, horn

Devin Gossett joined the Richmond Symphony Orchestra as Second Horn in the Fall of 2019 and joined the faculty at the College of William and Mary as Horn Instructor in 2022. Devin is also a member of the Richmond Symphony Orchestra Brass Quintet, which devotes their time to outreach and community engagement. Previously, he served as Principal Horn in the Peoria Symphony during the 2018-2019 season and was a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago during the 2017-2019 seasons.

Devin has performed with renowned orchestras across the country, such as the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Lyric Opera of Chicago. He performed with the Boston Symphony Orchestra for their 2019 and 2023 summer seasons at Tanglewood and joined the group for their 2023 European Festivals Tour. He has also traveled with the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Boston Symphony Orchestra to perform at Carnegie Hall. Devin can be heard on various recordings including the live recording of the Lyric Opera of Chicago’s production of Elektra (2019), as well as the Boston Symphony Orchestra’s album Strauss (2022) and the Grammy nominated album Adès Conducts Adès (2020). During
summers, Devin has been a member of the Tanglewood Music Center, Verbier Festival Orchestra, Lucerne Festival Academy, and Spoleto Festival, USA.

Devin earned his Master of Music at Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music in 2018 as a two-time recipient of the Emily Boettcher and Yule Bogue Endowed Fund and the School of Music Eckstein Fund. While at Northwestern, he served as graduate assistant to Gail Williams. An Ohio native, Devin earned his Bachelor of Music at The Ohio State University as a cum laude graduate and Aldridge Scholar. Highlights during his undergraduate degree include his performance of Reinhold Glière’s Concerto for Horn and Orchestra as a concerto competition winner. His primary teachers include Gail Williams, Jon Boen, and Bruce Henniss.

In his free time, Devin enjoys backpacking, skiing, and spending time with his cat, Chester.
