Doug Schneider has been a singer and and an actor professionally for over 40 years and received his degree in Theater Arts from UCLA. He joined Actor’s Equity Association in 1979 when he did my first regional theater production.
After moving to Charlottesville in 1987 he became involved in local theater and since getting cast in La Cage Aux Folles at Live Arts in 1995, He has done close to 40 productions locally and in Richmond and Fredericksburg.
Doug has been involved in productions at Live Arts, Heritage Theater Festival, Four County Players, Richmond Triangle Players, New Lyric Theatre, Riverside Center For the Performing Arts and the Hamner Theater. And he has worked with many actors, directors, and designers, many of whom have gone on to Broadway and films.
In 2007 readers of the C-Ville Weekly voted him Best Actor in Charlottesville and in 2014 he received the Richmond Theater Critics Circle (ARTSIE) Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Musical (Cabaret).
Since 1992 Doug has been a full time vocal instructor in Charlottesville, teaching students of all ages who are interested in developing their voices and expanding their repertoire. His studio is in my home in the Fry’s Spring area of Charlottesville.
