Emily Monroe, Baroque violin
Emily Monroe is a modern and baroque violinist from Charlotte, North Carolina. She currently makes her
home in Richmond, Virginia where she serves as a section violinist in the Richmond Symphony
Orchestra.
In 2022 Emily received a Master of Music in Violin Performance and Chamber Music from the
University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre and Dance under the tutelage of Professor Aaron
Berofsky. During her time in Ann Arbor, Emily served as a section violinist in the Ann Arbor Symphony
and acted as concertmaster of the University of Michigan’s Symphony Orchestra. Previously, Emily
attended the University of North Carolina School of the Arts high school program as a student of Kevin
Lawrence. In 2020 she graduated with a Bachelor of Music from Vanderbilt’s Blair School of Music
where she studied with Cornelia Heard. As a Blair Dean’s Honor Scholar, she won the 2020 Concerto
Competition and received the Jean Keller Heard Award for Excellence in String Performance.
When she’s not playing violin Emily loves to spend time with her dogs, practice yoga, and try her hand at
baking
