concert

Welcome

Welcome to the web site of the Chamber Music Society of Central Virginia – CMSCVA. We are Richmond’s leader in diverse chamber music programming, known for our exciting mix of contemporary electro-acoustic music, early music performed on period instruments, obscure musical treasure from all periods, as well as the beloved standards of the literature. Let us show you the “beauty of few.”

Due to inclement weather, the concert scheduled for February 22nd “Bach’s Well Tempered Clavier” has been rescheduled for May 3rd at 4:00pm at The Church of the Holy Comforter.

Our very own Carsten Schmidt will be performing book one of the Well-Tempered Clavier on May 3rd. Here is an interview with him talking about the pieces, the instrument, and J.S. Bach himself.

Recent reviews “The anchor of the program was Haydn’s Quartet in C major…played with extraordinary energy and dynamism. The music’s elegance remained intact, but in an interpretive context far different from that of “standard” 18th-century classical performance.” Clarke Bustard, Letter V – October 28, 2014 (click here to read the review)
